Before your appointment
We ask that you carefully review the checklist appropriate for your appointment type:
- Passport application (see under header Passport Services/Renewal In Person)
- Passport application for a minor (under 16) (see under header Children Under 16)
- Application for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad
- Notarial Services
- Social Security Number application
Coming unprepared to your appointment may cause unnecessary delays for all applicants after you, and may result in us not being able to assist you at your appointment. You will then have to schedule an appointment at the Embassy in Oslo or at the next consular visit.
At your appointment
Please do not show up for your appointment more than 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled appointment time. In order for all applicants to be helped in a timely manner and as quickly and efficiently as possible, we ask that you come prepared to your appointment. Please review the appropriate checklist carefully.
After your appointment
After your appointment, you will take your signed documents/applications with you. It will be necessary to send all required applications and photos through the Norwegian postal service to the Embassy in Oslo for further processing. The Embassy staff will not take any applications with them.
Please send your application to:
Embassy of the United States of America
American Citizen Services
P.O. Box 4075 AMB
The current fees can be found on our fee schedule.
Unfortunately, there is currently no method of paying for an application by mail or online. Payment must be made in person at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo. You may do this yourself, or a friend or family member can make the payment on your behalf. Please schedule a payment appointment at the Embassy by sending an email to OsloACS@state.gov.
Although payment must be made at the Embassy in Oslo, our Consular Visit will allow you to apply for a passport or report of birth abroad without having to bring your entire family to the Embassy. We hope this will alleviate the burden of having to pay in person and apologize for any inconvenience.
