In accordance with measures being taken to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the U.S. Embassy is offering limited consular services at this time, open only for emergency appointments on a case-by-case basis. If your travel is urgent, please contact the American Citizen Services Section at OsloACS@state.gov to request an emergency appointment. However, we have opened appointments for self-scheduling for Fall 2021 to accommodate U.S. citizens who may need passport or other services when no immediate travel is required.
All visitors to the U.S. Embassy age two and above must wear a mask while on Embassy premises. Visitors who have traveled internationally within the past ten days or who are under quarantine for any reason may not enter Embassy premises and must reschedule their appointment.
If you test positive for COVID-19 within 48 hours after your visit to the embassy, please let us know as soon as possible so we may notify other visitors and our staff of possible exposure.
The American Citizen Services (ACS) Section provides assistance with U.S. Passports, Reports of Births Abroad to U.S. Citizens, Reports of Death, voting abroad, notary services, Federal Benefits, and a few other, specialized consular services, such as repatriation loans, prison visits to incarcerated U.S. Citizens and welfare and whereabouts queries. ACS cannot act as your travel agent, bank, interpreter, employment office, lawyer, investigator or law enforcement agent, or assist with personal legal, medical, etc., matters. However, ACS can tell you how to receive help on these and other matters. Should questions arise while browsing through this guide, do not hesitate to contact us.
All visits to the Embassy require an appointment.
If you test positive for COVID-19 and/or experienced COVID-19 symptoms within 48 hours after your visit to the embassy, please let us know as soon as possible so we may notify other visitors and our staff of possible exposure.
Please read about security requirements before your visit.
