Proclamation on Advancing the Safe Resumption of Global Travel:

The United States has announced a new global air travel policy prioritizing public health and protecting U.S. citizens, residents, and visitors.  Effective November 8, all foreign nationals traveling to the United States must be fully vaccinated and provide U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC)-accepted proof of their vaccination status before boarding a U.S.-bound aircraft. More information about this global vaccination requirement, including details on limited exceptions and waivers, is available at the CDC’s website.

Please note that the rescission of these P.P.’s does not mean that the U.S. Embassy in Oslo is able to immediately schedule all affected applicants for visa interviews. We have temporarily suspended routine visa services as of December 19, 2021. Please see our visa service website for instructions on how to apply for a nonimmigrant visa.

Expansion of Interview Waiver eligibility for students, exchange visitors, and most temporary employment visas

Effective immediately, the eligibility to have an in-person interview waived and instead apply for a visa by mail has been expanded to students, exchange visitors, and most temporary employment visa categories. For more information, please see our post “Waiver of Interview Requirement for First-Time Student, Exchange, and Temporary Employment Visa Applicants”.
