Health Alert: U.S. Embassy Norway (January 25, 2021)

Event: Below you will find updates to Norwegian entry requirements, quarantine regulations, and COVID-19 mitigation measures.  The Department of State advises all U.S. citizens to read country-specific Travel Advisories and U.S. Embassy Oslo’s COVID-19 information page for information.

New entry requirements and stricter quarantine regulations: 

On January 23, the Norwegian Government announced proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours prior to departure is required for entry. Also, there will be fewer exceptions for quarantine and an increase in the testing requirements for those subject to an exception.  The Norwegian government also announced stricter quarantine rules with fewer exceptions.  Please see the press release for more information.

Norway is still restricting entry to Norway to only allow Norwegian citizens, residents of Norway, residents of certain European countries and certain exceptions to enter the country. Please see information on the website of the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration regarding regulations.

New stricter COVID-19 mitigation measures: 

On January 23, the Norwegian government implemented stricter measures for ten municipalities including: Enebakk, Frogn, Indre Østfold, Moss, Nesodden, Nordre Follo, Oslo, Vestby, Våler and Ås.  Please see the press release for more information.

On January 24, the Norwegian government implemented stricter measures for 15 additional municipalities including: Asker, Aurskog-Høland, Bærum, Drammen, Horten, Lier, Lillestrøm, Lunner, Lørenskog, Marker, Nittedal, Rakkestad, Rælingen, Råde og Skiptvet.  Please see the press release for more information.
