Below you will find updates to national and local novel coronavirus (COVID-19) mitigation measures and information on emergency appointments for consular services.  The Department of State advises all U.S. citizens to read country-specific Travel Advisories and U.S. Embassy Oslo’s COVID-19 information page for updated information.

New National and Local COVID-19 Mitigation Measures: 

On October 26, 2020, the Norwegian Government published new national restrictions to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic.  These national regulations went into effect October 28 and include limitations on guests in private homes and at private events.  See the national regulations press release for specifics.

Some municipalities are enforcing stricter regulations depending on their current situation.  Please see the Oslo regulations press release or information from your municipality to determine the regulations in effect in your area.  

American Citizen Services – Emergency Appointments Only, Limited Availability: 

In accordance with measures being taken to combat COVID-19, the U.S. Embassy in Oslo’s consular section is open for emergency appointments only for U.S. citizens on a case-by-case basis and with limited availability.  Please visit our U.S. Citizen Services information page for updated information on consular operations.  Contact us at OsloACS@state.gov if you have questions or would like to request an emergency appointment.
